What is USB? - Cables
The only leads allowed by the specification are
- A to B which are used to connect ports to devices.
- A plug to A socket which are used as extension cables.
A plug to A plug cannot be used to connect two hosts! USB does not allow for this directly.
B sockets are only found on devices.
Maximum cable length for a “good” shielded cable is five meters between hubs.
Maximum number of four hubs between the host and the device.
